The stage sizzles with DanceBrazil's scorching blend of samba, contemporary dance, ballet, and the pyrotechnic martial art of Capoeira. Artistic Director Jelon Vieira, who founded DanceBrazil with the help of Alvin Ailey, calls Capoeira "a fight like a dance, and a dance like a fight." Created by Africans enslaved on Brazil's sugar plantations to disguise their traditional art of self-defense as a harmless game, Capoeira now fuels the soul of this unforgettable dance adventure.
