ANNUAL GALA FUNDRAISER EVENT
Presented by American Airlines
This year’s gala fundraiser for Dance St. Louis includes a special treat: dance performances in the Touhill’s Anheuser-Busch theater. Dance fans will be able to support Dance St. Louis’ operations and education/outreach programs by choosing either the full gala experience or performance-only tickets. Guest artists from BalletMet Columbus and River North Chicago Dance Company plus Miami’s acclaimed New World Dance Theater and St. Louis’ Central Visual and Performing Arts High School will perform works by George Balanchine, Robert Battle, and Dance St. Louis Artistic & Executive Director Michael Uthoff.
BalletMet performs the bright, brassy El Capitan duet from Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes. Uthoff’s works are the romantic in g major to music by Maurice Ravel, his sultry A Media Luz to tangos by Astor Piazolla, and the Ode to José, to music by Johann Pachelbel, that he created as an elegy to his mentor, legendary choreographer José Limón. The electrifying finale will be River North Chicago Dance Company in Train by Robert Battle, a spectacular work of “pure high-velocity, red-hot, pedal-to-the-metal drive and raw theatricality” (Chicago Sun-Times).
Performance only tickets on sale March 1. Gala tickets available now by calling 314.534.6622.
