One of the most exalted dance companies in the world is sending dancers to St. Louis for the first time since 1994. New York City Ballet has a brand-new ventureNew York City Ballet MOVES, a nimble new touring group peeling out of the monumental troupe of nearly 100. New York City Ballet MOVES is made up of a rotating selection of about 20 principals, soloists, and corps de ballet. Plus, all performances will feature live music by members of the New York City Ballet Orchestra. The ensemble performs dynamic works from the company's unparalleled active repertory of more than 150 works, including new dances as well as classics by Jerome Robbins and founder George Balanchine, nearly all of which were created for New York City Ballet and are considered modern masterpieces.
