DANCE ST. LOUIS BRINGS JOFFREY BALLET in Nutcracker at the Fox

ST. LOUIS, June 18, 2007.....The world-acclaimed Joffrey Ballet brings its spectacular production of The Nutcracker to St. Louis for the first time on December 5-9, 2007, when Dance St. Louis brings back a beloved holiday tradition, the classic Christmas celebration of Nutcracker at the Fox. The Fox Theatre stage is transformed into a land of dreams with lavish costumes and sets inspired by Victorian toys, Tchaikovsky’s music played live by The Ballet Orchestra of St. Louis, and more than 150 St. Louis-area children in singing and dancing roles.
The powerhouse Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is also returning to the Fox Theatre on April 11-12, 2008, with a program of sparkling new productions and cherished classics.
Both events are part of Dance St. Louis’ 2007/2008 season, which is Dance St. Louis’ 42nd year of presenting the world’s best dance.
The dashing folkloric Georgian State Dance Company from the Republic of Georgia, an ancient land of legends nestled between Russia and Turkey on the shores of the Black Sea, opens the season at the Touhill Performing Arts Center on October 12-13. Also at the Touhill are the sizzling Tango Buenos Aires from Argentina on November 16-17, the gorgeous contemporary Tania Pérez-Salas Compañia de Danza from Mexico on January 25-26, and St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre of Russia in a three-part program of desire, danger and romance on February 22-23.
Special events presented at the Fox Theatre in cooperation with Fox Associates are the ever-popular entertainment spectacular BLAST! on January 18-20, and the music of the British Isles performed with military pomp and panache by the Pipes, Drums and Highland Dancers of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and the Band of the Coldstream Guards for one performance only on February 9.
Season ticket packages are on sale now. Single tickets will go on sale on September 4, 2007 for all shows except BLAST! and the Royal Scots & Coldstream Guards (TBA).
