Noche Flamenca
Noche Flamenca, an authentic Flamenco dance company from Spain, conducted a residency in Flamenco dance, voice, guitar and the Spanish language and culture in St. Louis area schools in November, 2005. A local Flamenco dance instructor, Kristina Martinez, taught pre-residency classes at all three participating schools, Parkway Central High School, Parkway North High School, and Carr Lane Visual and Performing Arts Middle School in the St. Louis school district. Students experienced four days of authentic Flamenco music and dance grounded in their geographical, historical, and cultural context. The residency culminated in a Young People's Performance by Noche Flamenca at the Edison Theatre for residency students and their classmates.
