Shapiro & Smith Dance
Shapiro & Smith Dance company members were in residence at Warrenton High School and Wright City Middle and High Schools in Warren County, and Louisiana Middle School and Elsberry Middle School in Pike County, the week of November 13, prior to their performances of Anytown: Stories of America at the Edison Theatre November 17-19, 2006. Anytown used down-to-earth, poignant storytelling combined with gravity-defying movement to follow the plight of three contemporary rural families. Anytown’s material and themes were employed to impart lessons about risk, centering, awareness of other performers, and trust. The culminating activity was attendance by the students with their schools at a Young People’s Performance at the Edison Theatre at 11 AM on Friday, November 17, 2006.
