Dance St. Louis’ Get Your Dance On, STL! Information
We want YOU to audition for Dance St. Louis’ Get Your Dance On, STL! campaign. The chosen dancers of this local audition receive a guaranteed spot in one of six Dance St. Louis commercial spots for the 2010-2011 season. The chosen dancers will also receive four complimentary tickets to one show of their choice from the following list: Houston Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet in Nutcracker at the Fox, Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, MOMIX in Botanica or SPRING TO DANCE® FESTIVAL 2011.
Open auditions will take place on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the Centene Center for Arts and Education in the Dana Brown dance studio located on the 3rd floor. Audition registration will occur from 10 a.m. until 12 noon with the last possible audition ending at 12:30 p.m. Auditions are not guaranteed! First-come, first-served.
The Centene Center for Arts and Education is located in Grand Center, one block east of the Fox Theatre, at 3547 Olive. Street parking is available at meters; bring plenty of quarters.
Each participant must be a legal U.S. resident or permanent U.S. resident.
Before you are permitted to audition you must have a completed Dance St. Louis release form and provide one valid form of ID (for example: driver’s license, school ID, birth certificate or passport).
A participant less than 18 years must be accompanied to the audition by a parent or legal guardian. The parent/legal guardian must bring a valid photo ID of themselves (for example: a driver’s license) or the participant will not be able to audition.
You or your group will receive an audition number once your release form is verified. Do not lose this number. You will not be issued another number. Your audition number will also be written on your left hand.
You will be called to audition only once. If you are not present, we will move on to the next person.
In an effort to keep all components of this audition fair, you will not be permitted to use your own props, microphone/CD player/sound system, etc. We will provide the music for you to dance to. CLICK HERE to listen!
Your clothes should be comfortable and easy to move in but do come camera-ready and look your best.
All participants should be prepared to dance for up to 30 seconds; we will time it and advise when you should stop dancing. Judges will base their votes on performance and appearance.
The chosen dancers will be notified by telephone the week of August 16-20, 2010. Each finalist must agree to appear at the Dance St. Louis Get Your Dance On, STL! photo shoot. The shoot is scheduled for Sunday, August 29, 2010 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. when the 2010-2011 season commercials will be filmed. If we cannot reach you by 12 noon on Friday, August 20, 2010 and/or you cannot appear at the Dance St. Louis Get Your Dance On, STL! photo shoot, an alternate will be contacted.
All decisions are final.
